John & Phillipa Owens (Woodhouse 2 Flock) and family have very kindly agreed to hold the Kerry Hill Flock Book Society Open Day at their farm - Woodhouse Farm, Shobdon, Leominster, Herefordshire HR6 9NL on Sunday 2 July. Please make a note of this; it is an event not to be missed. Please see here for further details.

Royal Welsh Get Together 2017

This year we will be holding another Society get-together at the Royal Welsh. The get together will be on the Monday  evening after the showing classes in the showing rings and will cost £6.50 a ticket to cover the catering, which last year was ample. It was good fun last year and everyone from the society is welcome whether you are showing or just spectating. If you would like to attend, please ring or message Sarah Evans of the Calcott Flock on 07761752305, so we can get an idea of numbers for the catering
Thousands of visitors flocked to the NSA North Sheep Event where the Kerry Hill Flock Book Society had a stand. Visitors to the stand were able to see some spectacular sheep which had been kindly provided by Robert & Jean Price from the Pentrenant Flock in Churchstoke, Powys.

Cath & Martin Kewley, Robert & Jean Price, Gwilym Pugh, David Maltby and Linda Barnard were in attendance throughout the day as well as our President Mr Alan Symonds. We were all kept busy throughout the day answering questions and giving advice both to existing members and potential new members. Our new leaflet about the attributes of the Kerrys and where they could be purchased at the forthcoming sales in Ludlow, Melton Mowbray and Carlisle were given out. Several requests for sale catalogues were lodged.

Details were also provided about our forthcoming National Open Day on Sunday, 2 July 2017 by kind permission of John & Philippa Owens, Woodhouse Farm, Shobdon, Leominster, Herefordshire HR6  9NL.
Thank you to everyone who came to our stand, to those members who gave their time freely to help sell the Kerrys and to those who came to buy the merchandise and also to the many others who came to find out more about this wonderful breed.

The First outing for the breed stand this year was to the Welsh Sheep Event at Talybont on Usk.  The venue was excellent despite access being a little trying!
In spite of the weather, which was damp all day, there was a very good attendance at the event and the stand was busy all day.
Thanks must go to Edward Williams for providing the sheep for the stand and to Anthony John, Hannah Owens and Gwilym Pugh for manning the stand.

It is with deep regret that the Society received news of the death of Tony Morris on 22 March 2017. The funeral was held on Monday 10th April 2017 at 11.15am at Hereford Crematorium.

Tony was a long standing member of the Society and had served on the Society Council for 30 years prior to standing down at the last AGM. He was a past Chairman and President of the Society, and represented the Society on the National NSA Committee and the NSA Cymru Committee.

Tony was a generous man both with his time and advice and also in more practical ways as evidenced by his gift of ewes to the Wrotham Flock following the attack on their ewes by dogs.

He and the Penybont Flock will be sadly missed by the Society.

The Society extends its sympathy to the Morris Family in their loss

The Society was saddened to receive news of the death of Mrs Rosina Powell, a past President of the Society.
Rosina, and her late husband Dick, owned the Garregllwyd Flock, and will be known to many of you through their many successes in the show ring over a very long period; winning many breed and interbreed championships.
Rosina’s funeral was held on Saturday 25 February 2017 at St Aelhaiarn's Church, Guilsfield, Welshpool, Powys at 12 noon.
The Society extends its sympathy to the Powell Family in their loss.
